About Us
I'm the guy with a few extra parts left over.
Born in Massachusetts. Raised in South Carolina. Currently in Los Angeles. Always in the garage.
My name is Arsen. I have been a car person my whole life. Not the kind who watches from the sidelines, but the kind who tears things apart without a full plan and figures it out along the way. I was the kid memorizing horsepower numbers and 0-60 times from the back pages of Car and Driver and Road and Track before I could legally drive.
My first car right out of high school was a Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. I spent more nights and weekends under that car than I spent sleeping. Boosting the turbo, burning through clutches doing burnouts, learning what I didn't know by breaking what I had. Then came a Mitsubishi Starion, boosted and tuned. Then a Lexus IS300, lowered and turbocharged. A Mercedes C240 Kompressor. A 1987 Porsche 911 with 125,000 miles on the clock and what felt like 125,000 things that needed fixing. I have had them all.
Then I got into trucks. Lifted old Broncos and Jeeps. V8 swaps. Flipping them on the trail and starting over. Four-wheelers, dirt bikes, Japanese Kei trucks, old Detroit rust buckets, and enough British electrical disasters to know exactly what Lucas Electronics was thinking. Nothing. They were thinking of nothing.
I am not loyal to a badge. I am loyal to the challenge. Every car I have ever owned got something from me. Some mod, some fix, some late-night bad decision that somehow worked out. I like knowing that whoever drives it next is getting a little piece of that too.
Idle Threads started because I wanted to make something for people like me. Not the showroom crowd. The people who would rather do their own oil change. The people who wonder if what they're doing will void the warranty. The people who know what it smells like when you have pushed a clutch too hard. The people who have bled on a brake caliper, cross-threaded something, and learned from it. The people who still have a project and always will.
Every design here comes from that world. Made by someone who has been in it his whole life. And if something goes wrong with your order, you are talking to that same person. Not a bot, not a ticket system. Just me.
